Western Style Rides

All of our trail rides are guided walking rides only and for ages 10 and up. Plan on an hour and a half here at the farm as we give customers more than your average trail ride! One of three trail ride facilities in a 30 mile radius of Charlotte, His Barn offers a unique approach to this much loved activity! A schedule appointment will find customers in the corral with their horse saddled and bridled already. Riders will spend 10-20 minutes in the ring with on of His Barn's instructors learning and practicing a few basic riding skills. We'll then guide you through 70+ acres of peaceful backwoods South Carolina! It's relaxing, safe, and packed full of riding tips. Our hope is that you will leave the Barn with tensions gone, the heart open and a set of skills you didn't quite have when you first arrived. All rides are $30 and by appointment only.

Lessons

Our lesson program begins for students 7 and up. We focus on the basic fundamentals of safe horsemanship and riding. We have just the right mount for your child based on size, personality and experience! It's a progressive learning style based on the Progressive Horsemanship Program of Western PA, developed by the late Dorothy Dearborn. Students will begin in level one, with a safe approach to horses, grooming and tacking up and can progress all the way to level four, when they will work on developing skills needed to train young horses and/or green broke horses. Pony Rides

Getting Acquainted is our pony program designed specifically for the youngest of horse lovers! Lessons start at seven and trail rides at ten, so, what about all those who have a few years to grow? Our ponies are quiet, conficent and patient teachers. Schedule a pony ride and bring the little ones out to the farm to be exposed to safe horsemanship habits. Kids will begin learning to approach a plny safely and groom them. They will then get three hand lead laps around our corral for their pony ride. Another opportunity to brush their pony after the ride will begin to expose them to the responsibilites of the horse world. Pony rides can be scheduled for kids as young as one and are by appointment only. All pony riders will pay only $10 for their fully packed and develpmentally appropriate experience here at the farm! Our chickens, cats, dogs, a llama and goat add to the fun!
